Antique, Circa 1880's SIEBE GORMAN & CO., SUBMARINE ENGINEERS, LONDON, PATENT, commercial deep sea 12 bolt diving helmet, stamped serial # 3757.
Matching serial number except for one brail, excellent untouched condition for a working hat showing a lot of working dents. It went back to the factory for either some repairs or an update, the reason for a name plate that was added on and covering the company Siebe name which originally was stamped into the breastplate in the early days. I removed the name plate so other collectors can see this. I knew because of the serial number that the stamping was there under the name plate. The rivets which held the nameplate are still with the hat, taped underneath the breastplate. Weighs approximately 36lbs. Measures approximately 17”H x 14”W x 16”Deep, front to back.
