    Description

    Nippon Porcelain Bowl with Japanese Coralene Designs and Nippon Imperial Backstamp
    This is an Imperial Nippon Hand Painted Porcelain bowl with the backstamp reading, Imperial Nippon Hand Painted.  This would be between – 1915 to 1921.
    First you will see that the bowl is delicately decorated with hand painted scenes of a sunset with two sailboats. There are two different sunset scenes painted on the opposite ends of the bowl. They are enclosed by raised gold beading and intricate coralene designs.
    One shows the sail boats out on the calm water not near the land. The second one shows the sailboats coming close to shore. There is writing on the one sail. The land shows hues of greens, oranges, and purples in the grass. The water has beautiful purples and oranges as does the sky and the sailboats. The sunset is spectacular with the same colors.

    he coralene process of decorating porcelain, specifically Nippon porcelain, shows painted colors against a background and raised elements in the design.
    You will find a deep olive strip surrounding the pictures with raised Japanese designs in black and purple raised dots, with the strip surrounded by the gold beading. Above that you have a strip showing just the white porcelain.
    Lastly, you have the olive-green strip with the raised black design which includes the purple raised dots. Finally, the rim is hand painted with gold gilding.
    The outside of the bowl is white porcelain and, on the bottom, you find the green Imperial Nippon Factory Mark.
    Dimensions 2 inches x 7 inches x 1.75 inches.
