    Description

    Maker
: This set of six elegant 5 3/8 inch fruit bowls is by the renowned Japanese maker Nippon, precursor to the equally renowned Noritake.
    Design
: Nippon is justifiably famous for its high quality and this set is no exception. It features a striking design of raised gold moriage against a background of thin, translucent pure white porcelain.
The pattern is Nippon's famous "Christmas Ornament" design, which over the years has been identified by various pattern numbers, including 16034, 175, and 46031.
    Age
: The green wreath mark with M (for the Morimura brothers, who founded the company around 1876) on each bowl's base dates their production to sometime between 1890 and 1921.
    Condition
: Despite their age, all six bowls are in excellent condition with no chips, nicks, cracks, scratches, repairs, crazing or discoloration. There is noticeable wear to the gold edges on some of them.
Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
