Description
A very good quality art nouveau porcelain cream pitcher with pedestal base richly decorated in the moriage style.  The pitcher is 5 1/2" tall to the top of the handle, body diameter is 3" & the base diameter is 2 1/4". Around the top rim is a beaded gold frieze below which are six panels with alternating pink & green backgrounds. On the green background is a wooded landscape in gold raised work. On the pink backround is a scrolling motif also in gold raised work. All the panels are outlined in gold beading. Below the panels is a frieze in gold raised work and beading. This is also present around the base pedestal. The pitcher is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is the barest signs of wear to the gold on one side of the handle & some wear to the gold on the base rim.
IE&C Co were in operation from c1885 to c1925 i.e. pre Nippon, Nippon & post Nippon eras. This pitcher probably dates to c1915.
