    Description

THIS LARGE ANTIQUE NIPPON ART NOUVEAU STYLE HAND PAINTED AND GILDED VASE WAS MADE BY MORIMURA GUMI BETWEEN 1891 TO 1911; I AM THINKING AROUND 1900S VINTAGE. MORIMURA GUMI LATER BECAME NORITAKI CHINA. A LARGE BASE NARROWS AT HANDLES AND THEN FLARES AT TOP TO CONNECT TO HANDLES. THERE IS A RAISED AND GILDED ART NOUVEAU WHPLASH AROUND BOTTOM. MOST OF THE GILDING HAS A MORIAGE TYPE FLORAL PATTERN; THE BACKSIDE WHIPLASH DOES NOT. IT IS MARKED ON BOTTOM WITH GREEN "MAPLE LEAF" MARK. LEAF IS 1/4"; THE RIGHT SIZE FOR ORIGINAL ANTIQUE RATHER THAN A 1990S REPRO. 12 1/2"TALL, 10 1/2"DIA. AT WIDEST, 11 1/2"ACROSS HANDLES, 7 1/2"OPENING, 8 1/8"BOTTOM RING. WEIGHS 8 POUNDS 5 OUNCES. IT IS IN AS FOUND CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. ROSES LOOK NICE, COLORS STRONG AND NOT FADED. GOLD IS WORN, ESPECIALLY ON HANDLES AND NEAR BOTTOM ON FRONT SIDE THAT SHOWS A PATTERN OF HANDLING CONSISTANT WITH AGE, SEE PICS. INSIDE LOOKS GOOD WITH MINOR DIRT TOWARDS THE BOTTOM. BOTTOM HAS SCUFFING AND DIRT ON UNGLAZED RIM. THERE IS A TINY HOLE ON INSIDE HANDLE, IT LOOKS TO BE A FIRING TYPE HOLE. I ALSO SAW 4 PINHOLE FLAWS THAT ARE UNDER GLAZE.
